Meet The Winemaker
Teaching himself the winemaking process at the age of 15 Joshua Orman decided to continue his family tradition and adopted the passion of his Italian grandfather. Encouraged by his mother and father, he continued his quest and acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Enology from the California PolytechnicState University of San Luis Obispo. As part of his educational experience and in addition to earning his degree in Enology and Viticulture he also apprenticed in Tuscany, Italy. There he was able to practice and refine his skills while working under Duccio Meazzini, Cellar Master at Fattoria Lavacchio Vineyard and Winery in Pontassieve, Italy.
Not only did he focus on the intent care of nurturing vines before harvesting for crushing, he also learned flourishing traditional methods that he brought back to his vineyard here in the United States. These old-world practices have only revealed themselves positively in the wines that he continues to produce.
His strictly monitored estate grapes present a unique quality as they continue to prove themselves in our award-winning wines each year. As practicing winemaker of Clavey Vineyards & Winery the inception of each wine begins under his close eye and attentive care. His plans are to continue to produce the highest quality wines for you, a valued friend of Clavey Vineyard & Winery.
